| SIBERIAN MOONLIGHT SONATA © 1996 Patricia Gould This quilt was inspired by a winter journey on the Trans-Siberian Railroad, across thousands of miles through the expanse of forest known as the Taiga. The trees are very white birch, standing like ghostly sentinels in the piercingly brilliant full moon. The scene was so magical that my husband and I stayed awake for most of the 2 nights staring spellbound out the windows. I added colors to the sky, mountains, and shadows to imbue the scene with the surreal impression this landscape made upon me. 48” X 76” EXHIBITIONS The Sky's the Limit, International Quilt Festival, November 2007, Houston TX/ Chicago IL, April 2008, Long Beach Ca, August 2008 “Illuminations”, Boston General Hospital Cancer Center, September – November 2002, Boston MA Pacific International Quilt Festival VII, “Radiant Memories”, October 1998, Santa Clara CA Quilts: A World of Beauty, IQA, October 1997, Houston TX All American Quilt Contest “If Quilts Could Talk”, June 1996, Dodgeville WI State Winner representing New Mexico $7500 |
