SIBERIAN MOONLIGHT SONATA
© 1996 Patricia Gould

This quilt was inspired by a winter journey on the Trans-Siberian Railroad, across thousands of miles
through the expanse of forest known as the Taiga.  The trees are very white birch, standing like
ghostly sentinels in the piercingly brilliant full moon.  The scene was so magical that my husband and I
stayed awake for most of the 2 nights staring spellbound out the windows.  I added colors to the sky,
mountains, and shadows to imbue the scene with the surreal impression this landscape made upon me.
