| WHAT IF GAUDĺ HAD BUILT STONEHENGE? © 2001 Patricia Gould A challenge from Keepsake Fabrics was the impetus for this quilt. The challenge included six Bali batik fabrics, of which I had to use 4, with the addition of two of my own fabrics. The batiks were so bright and so wild that I was at first baffled as to what to create. While looking through a book about Gaudí, whose work I had seen in Barcelona a few years ago, the idea came to me to fantasize about how Stonehenge would appear if he had been the designer and not only would it have been rendered in bright colors but also have been done in mosaic. The back of the quilt uses the other two remaining fabrics so that I did actually use all six. 30” X 30” EXHIBITIONS “Tactile Architecture” International Quilt Festival, November 2002, Houston TX Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival, February 2002, Williamsburg VA PRIVATE COLLECTION |
