TANZANIA REVERIE
© 1993 Patricia Gould

This quilt combines my love for travel with my love for fabric and quilting. While on a photo safari in
Tanzania, I bought the batik fabric (the quilt back) just because it was beautiful.  Two years later, the
batik inspired me to express my experience of East Africa in a quilt.  Until this time, I had only
created abstract designs in my quilts.  This was the first personal statement I transformed into a quilt
and it serves not only as a reminder for myself and my husband of our wonderful journey, but also
acts as a glimpse into the unique environs of East Africa for others.
